Review of Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors and Radiotherapy Related Skin Toxicities

چکیده
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer therapy, and their use in combination with radiation therapy (RT) has become increasingly utilized to optimize positive outcomes. The cutaneous adverse reactions from RT as well ICIs are both documented; however, these toxicities can be exacerbated. may work synergistically create an enhanced immune response against the tumor cells. This synergistic effect been reported occur locally at site of RT, systemically via abscopal effect. Fortunately, this treatment does not increase incidence reactions, although several cases skin toxicity RT. is thought ‘immunocompromised district’ or localized dysregulation irradiated skin. review summarizes previously published case reports discusses ICI therapy. Properly identifying induced depends on factors including patient history, sequence therapies, timing reaction, histological findings. Skin range severity include ICI-induced recall dermatitis, uncommon presentations Stevens-Johnson syndrome, lichen planus, bullous pemphigoid which within areas prior exposure. It important for oncologists dermatologists alike aware spectrum associated

Immune checkpoint inhibitors, including the anti-CTLA-4 antibody ipilimumab, the anti-PD-1 antibodies nivolumab and pembrolizumab, and the anti-PD-L1 antibody atezolizumab had produced long-lasting tumor responses in several malignancies. Immune-related Adverse Events(irAEs)which are different from adverse events of conventional chemotherapy and molecular targeted therapy, occur as a consequenc...
متن کاملRenal Toxicity Related to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors
As early as the 18th century, physicians noticed that some cancer patients went into remission after developing fevers from infections. This led to the idea that the immune system, which protects from infection, might also fight cancer. What is now known as “immunotherapy” is a treatment that targets the immune system to recognize and eradicate cancer cells. Modern immunotherapy has focused on ...
متن کاملA systematic review of immune-related adverse event reporting in clinical trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors.
BACKGROUND There are limited data about the quality of immune-related adverse event (irAE) reporting in immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) clinical trial publications. METHODS A systematic search of citations from Medline, EMBASE and Cochrane databases identified prospective clinical trials involving ICIs in advanced solid tumors from 2003 to 2013. A 21-point quality score (QS) was adapted fro...
متن کاملPredicting radiotherapy-related clinical toxicities in cancer: a literature review.
Assessment of patients receiving radiotherapy for cancer is essential, with the ability to identify those who may be more likely to experience radiotherapy-related side effects noted as an important issue for nurses. Body mass, age, and radiation dose may be predictive factors for the development of such side effects. This review considers these factors and how nurses can use this evidence to i...

Emerging evidence supports a vital role of the endogenous immune response system in the recognition, control and elimination of malignant cells. In the early phases of cancer development, molecular alterations caused by the tumour trigger the development of tumour-associated antigens (TAAs), which are initially recognised by the immune system. During tumour evolution, accumulation of genetic mu...
